Apple has banned a developer from its App Store after he stole money from users’ iTunes accounts.
Thuat Nguyen used the money to buy his own applications without the account holder’s permission. Nguyen’s apps – versions of popular manga comics – at one point occupied 42 out of the top 50 books on Apple’s App Store over the weekend.

Apple said that around 400 iTunes users had been caught up in the scam. However, the company said that central records containing the credit card details of millions of iTunes users had not been compromised by Nguyen.
A spokesman for Apple said that the company had increased the level of security around iTunes in the wake of the incident. Users will now be prompted to enter their credit card security code more frequently, and those affected by the scam have been advised to contact their bank in order to obtain a refund.
